Coldplay and Alicia Keys lead the nominees for the 2008 American Music Awards, it was announced.
Both are contenders for artist of the year, with Keys amassing a total of five nominations and the British rock band netting four.
Other multiple nominees and artist-of-the-year candidates include the Eagles and Lil Wayne.
The American Music Awards will present 20 trophies in pop/rock, country, soul/rhythm & blues and rap/hip-hop, Latin, alternative, contemporary inspirational and adult contemporary.
The awards will be presented in Los Angeles on November 23.
